Pick the French Bulldog if you want the calmest possible city companion and minimal exercise obligations, and your budget genuinely absorbs the breed’s heavy health load: airway surgery, spine disease, allergies, and heat intolerance are common, not exceptional.
For most first-time apartment owners the Boston is the more forgiving choice; the Frenchie trades health risk for its particular charm, and that trade should be made with open eyes.
